About McTours

McTours European Motorcycle Tours

McTours deliver Luxury Motorcycle Tours

At McTours, we specialise in premium motorcycle touring experiences across The British Isles, selective regions of Europe, and occasionally beyond.

In 1998 we offered our first grand tour through 12 countries across Europe and Scandinavia, although most are shorter trips and in all we have remained committed to delivering exceptional journeys for discerning riders who value comfort, culture, and camaraderie.

Our Philosophy

We believe that a motorcycle tour should be more than just a ride, it should be an immersive experience. Our tours are designed to blend exhilarating routes with high-quality accommodation, fine dining, and cultural exploration. Whether you're riding solo or with a partner, we ensure every aspect of your journey is thoughtfully curated.

What Sets Us Apart

Guides and Support

Our guides are experienced riders with deep local knowledge. They lead with professionalism and passion, ensuring your safety and enjoyment throughout the tour. Support vehicles are available on selected tours to carry luggage and provide assistance if needed.

Transparent Pricing

We operate with integrity and transparency. Our pricing reflects the quality of service and accommodation provided. Tours are never cancelled due to low numbers, if you book, we go.

Tailored Experiences

Looking for something bespoke? We offer custom tours for individuals, groups, and corporate clients. Whether it's a weekend escape or a multi-week adventure, we will design a tour that suits your preferences.

A Typical Day

A McTours journey is just as important as the destination. While we select fascinating places to visit, our focus is on crafting routes that deliver an exceptional riding experience. We avoid highways in favour of scenic roads that wind through diverse landscapes, often including single-track sections, to ensure every mile is memorable.

Our routes are carefully planned to balance riding with rest and exploration. We typically stop every 90 minutes, covering around 50 miles between breaks. Although speed limits may suggest faster travel, the nature of the roads, full of bends, elevation changes, and stunning views, means a more relaxed pace is both natural and enjoyable. Riders often average closer to 30 mph (50 km/h), allowing time to appreciate the surroundings and capture photographs along the way.

Stops vary from charming roadside cafés for refreshments to historic sites and cultural landmarks worth exploring. Daily distances range from 140 to 230 miles (225–370 km), with two or three main stops included. Time in the saddle is usually between four and six hours, and with breaks factored in, each day's journey spans approximately eight hours, from departure after breakfast to arrival in time for dinner.

Motorcycle Hire Available

McTours offers a flexible and reliable motorcycle hire service to complement your touring experience. At our Scottish base, we maintain a small fleet of well-kept motorcycles. For tours elsewhere, we partner with over 60 reputable dealerships across Europe and beyond to provide a wide selection of machines.

Whether you prefer an adventure bike, sport tourer, cruiser, naked, or faired model, we’ll source a motorcycle that suits your riding style. Popular brands such as BMW, Triumph, and Harley-Davidson are available at most locations, with access to Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, Moto Guzzi, Suzuki, Yamaha, and others in selected regions.

All hire bikes are professionally serviced, insured, and prepared by established dealers, ensuring they are in pristine condition and ready for your tour. Riders opting for rental can rest assured that their motorcycle will be waiting at the start of the journey fully prepared and road-ready.

Of course, you’re welcome to bring your own motorcycle. If you do, please ensure it is appropriately insured for group riding in all countries on the itinerary. Proof of insurance must be presented to your tour guide before the first ride begins.

Carefully Selected Quality hotels

Chateau des Vigiers, Dordogne, France

Quality accommodation is a cornerstone of every McTours experience. We believe that a clean room and good food are just the beginning. When selecting hotels, we look for properties that offer comfort, character, and, for fixed base tours, a full range of leisure amenities to enhance your stay.

Many of our tours operate from a fixed base, making them ideal for riders travelling with non-riding partners or family members. We choose hotels that offer more than just a place to sleep, expect facilities such as swimming pools, saunas, health spas, and access to golf courses, tennis courts, and other recreational activities. We also ensure there are nearby attractions to suit a variety of interests, so everyone can enjoy their time while riders are out exploring.

Every hotel is personally vetted by our team. We stay overnight, sample the food, and assess the overall experience. If the in-house dining doesn’t meet our standards, we explore nearby restaurants to ensure guests have access to high-quality meals. Most of our partner hotels are happy to accommodate dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other specific needs.

Our accommodation partners include privately owned country club resorts as well as trusted brands like Hilton and Best Western. Almost all selected hotels are rated at least three stars and chosen for their comfort, cuisine, and facilities. After a rewarding day on the road, you shall return to a relaxing environment where you can unwind, enjoy a fine meal, and rest well.

By combining premium accommodation with expert tour planning, McTours offers a refined alternative to the typical motorcycle holiday. We believe this sets us apart, and we invite you to experience the difference.

Four Unique Tour Propositions

We offer National circuits, Regional Tours, Short Breaks and Bespoke Tours. Each of these propositions addresses a different rider requirement and so we are confident that there will be a bike tour to suit every type of motorcyclist and their guest or pillion.

National circuits provide an opportunity to familiarise the rider with all that the country has to offer. This tour covers large parts of a country stopping at a different hotel each of the night of the tour. Take for example our Scottish base where the landscape of the lowlands differs greatly from that of the highlands. Riders taking a tour of Scotland would sample both and gain a better understanding and appreciation of the areas they would like to return to and explore in greater detail. The one drawback that this type of tour has is that come rain hail or shine you must straddle the saddle and make way to the next stop on the map! This will not appeal to some especially a pillion who is unaccustomed to long bike runs.

Some of our National Tours operate from just a few bases which afford some flexibility and journeys can be adjusted to catch better weather on the day. E.g. on an eight day tour four nights might be spent at each of two hotels. A rider or their pillion can elect not to participate every day (other than on the day we move from the first to second base) because the group will be returning to the same hotel. This option helps a rider better explore two regions whilst still giving a flavour of the country at large.

Our Regional tours operate from a fixed base in the centre of the area to be toured. In Scotland we use the Doubletrees by Hilton Dunblane Hydro Hotel because this is ideally located to reach both highlands and lowland of Scotland within a 200 mile daily circuit. Likewisem Chateau des Vigiers in France is an excellent base to tour the Dordogne.

All of our fixed base tour are cantered at a luxury hotel resort where we stay for eight consecutive nights of a typical tour. This longer stay in one hotel affords greater negotiating power with the resort enabling us to offer our customers high standard accommodation at highly competitive prices. This tour offering is ideal for the rider whose partner has little or no interest in biking because they can relax by the pool, go off sightseeing or shopping and enjoy the resort facilities while their other half is away biking. This fixed location is carefully selected to be central to a region allowing the area to be fully explored taking a different route each day to ensure that the best biking roads the area has to offer are experienced.

Operating from a luxury Hotel or Country Club and using Motorcycles supplied by local dealers enables riders to explore an area without the arduous journey of getting to the region.

Regional Motorcycle Tours

Our most popular type of Motorbike Tours in Europe are our regional tours. Each tour lasts 9 Days with 8 Nights Accommodation and 7 Days Bike Riding. They are ideal for the rider whose partner has little or no interest in biking because the tour is centred at a luxury hotel resort where we typically stay for eight consecutive nights. Whilst the rider is off exploring the best roads in the area their other half or family stay behind to enjoy the resort facilities. This fixed location is carefully selected to be central to a region and daily routes are up to 200 miles (about 5-6 hours in the saddle, with stops about a 9 hour day).

Regional Motorcycle Tours

National Motorcycle Tours

Our National European Motorcycle Tours travel further and hops and skips around a country or often across borders. On a National Tour we stay at a different hotel most nights. It is typically chosen by riders who seek an opportunity to familiarise with much that a country has to offer because riders taking this style of tour can sample a wider area and identify regions that they might like to return to and explore in greater detail. National tours typically last 9 Days with 8 Nights' Accommodation and 7 Days Bike Riding and they cover an average of 150 miles per day (circa 4-5 hours riding, with stops about 6-8 hours).

National Motorcycle Tours

Short Motorcycle Tours

Our Short Motorcycle Tours last 5 Days with 4 Nights Accommodation and provide a Motorcycle Touring holiday with 3 Days Bike Riding. They usually stay at the same hotel throughout the tour and can be midweek or long weekend. We try to pack in a lot of riding in these short vacations covering in excess of 200 miles some days. They may be short holidays but prudent road selection takes riders across diverse landscapes snaking along roads that will be single track at times to ensure the best rider experience available is always picked and that no rider will ever be disappointed by the tour (about 6 hours in the saddle).

Short Motorcycle Tours

Bespoke Motorcycle Tours

Many of our clients want to Tour Europe by Motorcycle but do not want to take our scheduled tours. Perhaps the dates do not suit or there is a particular place they want to visit or road they wish to ride. Some want to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary or retirement and celebrities who want to tour a country without being recognised love the anonymity that a helmet affords allowing them to fully appreciate the country and all its wonders without being chased by fans or paparazzi. So, if you want a special tour organised just for you then we are delighted to assist.
